This page provides information and resources on the Health First Colorado doula benefit, including opportunities to engage, training guidance and materials, frequently asked questions, and additional resources.
Health First Colorado members are now able to access doula benefits, as of 7/1/2024. A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a pregnant person before, during and after childbirth to help families achieve the best birth experience possible.
We are working to build up a robust provider network, so please use the resources below to enroll as a Health First Colorado doula.
Doula Provider Enrollment
Click on the Provider Enrollment Portal to be guided to the Health First Colorado doula application. Provider Enrollment Forms can be found on the Provider Forms web page under the "Provider Enrollment & Update Forms" heading. Below is a list of forms required as part of the enrollment process.
Please refer to the Doula Quick Enrollment Guide for detailed enrollment steps.

- Approved Doula Training Organizations HFC
The department does not offer, recommend or endorse any particular doula training certification or organization.
If you do not see the training organization from which you received your doula certification listed, please be aware that the department is currently reviewing the application process for organizations seeking approval as doula training organizations to ensure that our training pathway upholds high standards of care for Health First members.
In the meantime, any doula providers are encouraged to apply through the experience pathway if their training organization is not yet listed. We appreciate your patience and anticipate providing an update in the coming weeks.
For individuals applying to provide doula support to Health First Colorado members and seeking reimbursement under the certification pathway, and who have a certificate of completion from one of the two nationally and internationally recognized doula certifying organizations: DONA International and Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA), both are approved training organizations.
List of Approved Doula Training Organizations: English I Spanish. If you are interested in applying to be added to the list of approved training organizations, please complete the application.
