Prevention Services
Prevention services help prevent illness and injury, identify health issues early, and reduce risk through education and counseling. Prevention can include screenings, counseling, and other evidence-based services that help people stay healthy and avoid complications. The Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) encourages a focus on prevention because it improves health outcomes for Health First Colorado members and supports health equity and value across Colorado’s health care system. Many prevention services are guided by national evidence-based recommendations, including the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF).
This webpage will include prevention resources for providers—such as toolkits, billing guidance, and policy documents. HCPF will continue updating this page as additional prevention services and policies become available. These codes are for information purposes only. It is the provider’s responsibility to bill the correct procedure code. Reimbursement rates for the following procedure codes can be found on the HCPF Fee Schedule.
