Who are direct care workers?
Direct care workers provide services for members receiving Home and Community Based Services (HCBS), including Consumer-Directed Attendant Support Services (CDASS), Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), and Long-Term Home Health (LTHH) services. The term direct care workers includes Nursing Aides, Home Health Aides, Personal Care Aides, Companions, and other jobs. For example, it also includes HCBS facility work (day programs, assisted living, etc.), Job Coaching, Job Development, Mentorship, and Pre-Vocational services.
Direct care workers come from diverse backgrounds to care for older adults and people with disabilities. They are trained professionals who ensure the well-being and safety of those under their care. Their dedication is unwavering, and they work tirelessly to enhance the quality of life for their members, all while treating them with utmost respect and dignity.
