2026 Mid-Year Refresher Training

Registration for the 2026 Medicaid School Health Services Program (SHS) Mid-Year Refresher Training is now open. We will be hosting three (3) in-person sessions in different areas of the state, as well as a virtual option. 

These are technical training sessions geared towards the day-to-day operations of SHS program administration. For example, we review the cost reporting that school districts and Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) are required to submit to participate in the SHS program. Training sessions are not about policy. Training is not an open, public meeting and there is no opportunity for public comment. 

In-Person Sessions

In-person training sessions include time to interact with SHS program contacts from other participating districts. These face-to-face interactions help establish connections that can be an invaluable resource when districts implement program requirements. We highly recommend in-person attendance, especially for program coordinators, as it allows for additional networking that can’t be duplicated in virtual training sessions.

Please register for the in-person training by completing the ​​​​​​Google Registration Form and selecting your preferred location. There are capacity limits to each location so please be sure to register early to ensure there is space available at the location you'd like to attend.  

All in-person sessions will be held from 9:00am - 1:00pm with registration and a light breakfast beginning at 8:30am.

Virtual Sessions

When in-person attendance is not possible, it is highly recommended that program coordinators and all SHS program support staff register and attend both Part 1 and Part 2 of the virtual sessions. Both in-person and virtual training will cover the same topics. You may attend any combination of the Part 1 and Part 2 sessions that works best for your schedule, but you must attend both sessions to cover all topics included in 2026 Mid Year Training. 

Training will be conducted by the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF), the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), and Public Consulting Group, Inc. (PCG) and are intended for program coordinators and other district staff that support the administration of the SHS program as well as the district's billing agents. District support staff may include employees responsible for financial reporting, random moment time study administration, outreach and enrollment, service documentation, and provider training.

2025 Annual Training

The Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF), Public Consulting Group (PCG) and the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) hosted the 2025 Annual trainings during the month of August. A new timeline-based training format was used to explain tasks in the order they are completed during the fiscal year. This is an additional tool participating school districts and Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) can use to complete program requirements.
