Prescriber Tool for Health First Colorado
The Prescriber Tool helps Coloradans save money on healthcare by empowering providers with information on prescription drug costs and affordable alternatives. It reduces administrative burden for providers, while also improving convenience for patients.
The goals of the Prescriber Tool:
✔Help improve patient health outcomes and service
✔Reduce administrative burden for prescribers
✔Improve prescription drug affordability
The Modules are available in various EHRs and will provide the following:
- Real-Time E-Prescribing: Prescribers can now send prescriptions electronically to pharmacies for Health First Colorado members, increasing convenience and saving time for patients, prescribers, and pharmacies.
- Real-Time Benefits Inquiry: Prescribers now have rapid insight into preferred medications from the preferred drug list (PDL), empowering them with drug affordability and cost options, including up to three more cost-effective alternatives.
- Real-Time Prior Authorization: Prescribers can now get rapid prior authorizations and reduce their workload!
- Opioid Risk Module: The Department has contracted with OpiSafe to administer an integrated opioid risk tool that helps prescribers save time and prevent the misuse and abuse of opioids, benzodiazepines, and other controlled substances. Features include: Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) data, Toxicology reports, clinical guidelines, education, a GPS treatment locator, and patient accessible tools for overdose prevention.
