Disability Rights Notice

In accordance with the requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (504), Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 ("ADA"), and Section 1557 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing does not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in employment, admission or access to, treatment or participation in, or receipt of the services and benefits under any of its programs, services and activities. The Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing and all of its programs, services and activities are accessible to and useable by individuals with disabilities.

Employment

The Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its hiring or employment practices and complies with all regulations promulgated by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under Title I of the ADA.

Effective Communication

The Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing provides appropriate aids and services, free of charge, to qualified individuals with disabilities so they can participate equally in its programs, services and activities, including qualified sign language interpreters, documents in Braille, and other ways of making information and communications accessible to individuals who have speech, hearing, vision, or manual impairments.

Modifications to Policies and Procedures

The Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing will make reasonable modifications to policies and programs to ensure that individuals with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all of its programs, services and activities. For example, individuals with service animals are welcomed in the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing offices, even where pets are generally prohibited.

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service or a modification of policies or procedures, to participate in a program, service or activity of the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing, should contact the office of the 504/ADA Coordinator as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event.

The Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing is not required to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs, services and activities, or impose an undue financial or administrative burden.

The Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing will not place a surcharge on a particular individual with a disability or any group of individuals with disabilities to cover the cost of providing auxiliary aids and services or reasonable modifications of policy, such as retrieving items from locations that are open to the public but are not accessible to individuals who use wheelchairs.

The Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing has a procedure for complaints alleging disability discrimination or violations of Section 504, Title II of the ADA, or Section 1557.
