Colorado Providers of Distinction (COPoD)

Colorado Providers of Distinction (COPoD) Overview

The Colorado Providers of Distinction (COPoD) program aims to drive improved access to high-value specialty and facility-based care by providing participants, members, and referrers with the necessary insights to inform choices and support continuous quality and performance improvement efforts. This program will focus on elective surgical procedures. The Department is working closely with technical and clinical experts to ensure that the methodology for evaluating care for each procedure is based on evidence and promotes high-quality person-centered care for an episode that includes treatment before, during and after the procedure.

Stakeholder collaboration is critical to defining key elements of the COPoD program design. Elements will include identifying current challenges to quality and performance improvement, selecting appropriate measures, and informing inputs to program sustainability and technical assistance needs.

Upcoming Opportunities:

Recruitment for the COPOD Design Review Team (DRT) will begin shortly. The DRT is a group of 12-14 external stakeholders who will provide recommendations to HCPF on COPOD program design. DRT members must commit to participating in bimonthly (twice per month) work sessions over the course of 6 months.

In addition to the DRTs, there will be regular opportunities to receive updates and provide feedback for those who are not interested or unable to join the DRT. Opportunities will be shared on this webpage, and on HCPF’s Value Based Payments webpage.
