Fiscal Year Budget Requests
Each Department of the State of Colorado submits yearly requests to the Office of State Planning and Budgeting (OSPB) in late summer and early fall. OSPB staff review the department's budget request and instructs them on changes. The Department then submits a revised budget request to the Joint Budget Committee (JBC). Soon after, the Department has hearings with the JBC concerning their budget request. After these hearings with all the State Departments, the JBC will write the annual appropriations bill, more commonly known as the Long Bill, for funding of the Colorado Government
Budget Supplementals and Amendments
Budget Supplementals and Amendments are requests for additional funding outside the normal Fiscal Year (FY) Budget Request. Supplementals are requests for additional funds for the current fiscal year (FY). Amendments are requests for additional funds to the upcoming fiscal year (FY). Colorado's State Fiscal Year (FY) begins on July 1 and ends on June 30 for every year.
Late Supplementals and Amendments
Late Budget Supplementals and Amendments are requests for funds after the January 2 submission. For the Department, this submission typically contains supplementals and amendments for Medicaid, Mental Health, and the Children's Basic Health Plan Plus, but these submissions can contain other requests as well.

Stand Alone Budget Request Amendments are requests for funds for the upcoming fiscal year without a corresponding Supplemental
Emergency 1331 Supplementals
Emergency 1331 Supplementals are submitted when a budgetary emergency is anticipated.
